WOW!  I’m so glad I checked out the technique challenge for this week!  Lynn sure picked a great one!  This was a lot of fun and also very educational all at the same time!!  This challenge uses the Cuttlebug, Embossing Folder, Die Cut and Chipboard. If you don’t have chipboard you can cut a cereal box or anything similar for the chipboard.

I realized the lighting isn’t the greatest for this card, but I wanted to make sure you could see the embossing, since that’s the focus of this challenge!

I used a light purple frost cardstock that I got at Archiver’s and layered that onto Eggplant.  I added a little pink just for some contrast too!  I have inserted the YouTube video that guides you through the entire process!  Give it a try and post a link in my comments to your card!  I’d love to see what you come up with!!

The following was taken from Ellen Hutson’s sandwich recipes!  I only have a cuttlebug so this is the info that I was looking for.  If you have any other die cut machine you can check here for that sandwich recipe!!

This machine is capable of cutting and embossing any Spellbinders™ die. I can not
guarantee that the B plates will not break in the Cuttlebug, but when
testing my B plates were fine. They did make that ever present cracking
noise though and therefore my hesitancy to say that they will never
break being I have broken many B plates over the last few months. I do
plan on testing the Spellbinders Thick White Mats and the Blue Mats
included in the Wizard Charm Embossing Kits to see whether I can find
an alternative to the acrylic plates. The white and blue mats provided
by Spellbinders are so much sturdier.

How to Use a Spellbinders™ Die in the Cuttlebug™:
Cutting Sandwich
1. A plate

2. C plate
3. Spellbinders™ die, blade side up
4. Paper or cardstock

5. B plate

6. Roll through Cuttlebug™

Today’s SCS Try a new technique challenge was to use your prismacolor pencils and gamsol.  I have those, so I was ready to play!  Here is the card that I made.

I cased a card by Cre8veLdy.  I didn’t use any DP this time and used my Cuttlebug instead.  It’s been a while since I’ve played with that and thought it would make a nice background for this simple card!

Stamp Set:  In Full Bloom
Paper:  Black, Celery, Confetti White
Accessories:  Word Window Punch, Brads, Prismacolor pencils, gamsol, blending stumps

I was just checking out Nichole’s Blog {Capture the Moment} and she has posted the new die cuts that they will be taking pre-orders for.  Many of you are having a hard time finding the Marvy Giga punches that everyone is using.  This might be an alternate idea for you.  Especially if you have a Cuttlebug or other die cutting machine.  Here is the link to her post describing the sizes and cost of these new die cuts! —-> Nestabilities Die Cuts!

Here is another Cuttlebug video that I wanted to see because I managed to curl one of my alphabet plates!!  This video talks about using alphabet dies with the Cuttlebug.  One thing I realized that I was doing wrong was placing my dies blade side down.  I guess they are supposed to be blade side up!!  Funny how I can use something for quite a while and then find out I’m doing it wrong!!!

While I was watching the Crop-A-Dile video I decided to see what other videos they had that might be interesting to watch.  Since I have a Cuttlebug, and you know I love it, I thought this video might be helpful as well.  It is a tutorial on which spacer plates to use for different brand dies.  This can sometimes be confusing, but it really works!  If you want to see what other videos they have that might be helpful to you, check out Creative Express! and their list of video tutorials that might be helpful to you!!

Until Next Time….Happy Learning!!!
